Purple Peafowl

The purple color in peafowl is a sex linked color.  Peahens only need one copy of  purple to show the purple color, peacocks have to have two copies in order to show the purple color.

 These are the first 5 chicks above hatched during the end of May and through June 2011.  The two lightest colored chicks are both purple females, one pied and one solid.  These babies are very much alive..just sleeping!
